Coro Angels Charitable Trust

Serving Christ. Serving People.
Changing Lives.

Our story

How it began

Coro Angels began in 2022 when Paul DellaBarca and Mike Mann gathered a small group of like-minded Christians to respond to real social and economic needs in the Coromandel. Their vision was simple: to serve Christ by serving people in practical, caring, and responsible ways.

Becoming a charitable trust

Over the following years, the group offered practical support, mentoring, pastoral care, and connections to other services. This experience confirmed the need for a more structured way to serve the community.

Coro Angels was formally registered as a charitable trust on 8 September 2026, creating a stronger foundation for continuing and developing Paul and Mike's original vision.

Who we support

Coro Angels looks to support individuals and families in the Coromandel area who are facing hardship, seeking guidance or mentoring, working through addiction or recovery, reconnecting with community after incarceration or probation, or looking for hope and purpose.

How we help

We provide practical help such as food and essentials, mentoring, pastoral care, Bible teaching and discipleship, referrals, counselling connections, employment pathways, and positive community activities.

Working alongside Recova

Coro Angels has a strong connection with Recova, a local drug and alcohol support group. One Coro Angels trustee was a founding member when Recova began three and a half years ago. Through this relationship, Coro Angels is able to support people affected by addiction, including alcohol and methamphetamine, as they work toward recovery and stability.

Recova provides weekly group meetings, sponsors, referrals to rehabilitation and mental health services, and support for people referred by police, doctors, probation, or the wider community. Coro Angels complements this work by helping people build positive relationships, explore employment opportunities, take part in healthy activities, and connect with further support where needed.

Local experience and leadership

Coro Angels is currently led by four trustees who bring local knowledge, practical experience, and a commitment to serving the community. Their backgrounds include social work, horticultural advice and mentoring, pharmacy and intern training, and software business leadership. Together, they provide a balanced base of experience to guide the work of Coro Angels.
